TELEMANN Sinfonia spirituosa Goebel 4714922

This new issue by Reinhard Goebel and Musica Antiqua Köln is one of their strongest to date. The programme is imaginative, the content varied and the playing of a vey high order.

Reinhard Goebel has made many thought-provoking contributions to the Telemann discography, widening our perspectives with imaginatively constructed programmes which reveal the composer's astonishingly varied and eclectic terms of reference. No persuasion is needed for the confident, extrovert Sinfonia spirituosa, particularly its opening quasi-chaconne movement, here played with such infectious bounce that I fully expected my speakers to start dancing. ... Viva Goebel! Viva Telemann!

Unerhört, mit welcher rhythmischen Energie sich Musica Antiqua etwa in die Ouvertüre für Solo-Gambe und Streicher stürzt...
