. . . [Mozart: Piano Concerto no. 13 K. 415]: It was one of her final recordings, and an incredible achievement. I understood the importance of touch: hers mesmerised me.

Haskil's Mozart, which occupies almost eight of the 17 CDs in this set, is indeed something very special. Lightness and fleetness of touch, absolute precision and evenness in the values of identical notes, crystalline clarity of articulation, subtle shading of dynamics, and very judicious use of the pedal are always in evidence . . . In all the works with multiple recordings (not just the Mozart concertos), her interpretive approach remains remarkably consistent, even down to very small details . . . Her Beethoven will appeal to those who like a very Classical approach to the composer . . . Her Chopin Concerto No. 2 with Markevitch is something of a surprise in its Romantic weightiness . . . this is a formidable interpretation that challenges one's preconceptions and has much to say for itself . . . Her renditions of the two Mozart sonatas and the two sets of variations, and also of the 14 Scarlatti sonatas, are absolute delights, all finely-spun clarity and purity of line and form . . . the complete sets of the Beethoven and Mozart sonatas for violin and piano do more than just to end the set on a high note. Whatever the magic personal alchemy was between them, Haskil and Arthur Grumiaux were an interpretive coupling made in Heaven . . . Haskil was not a perfect artist . . . But, as this recorded legacy shows, she was and is deservedly a legendary one. For the Beethoven and Mozart violin and piano sonatas alone, this set, or some other comparable issue of them by Universal, is essential and indispensible.
