. . . [Abbado] aura réussi son pari de laisser à la postérité de belles interprétations mozartiennes en forme de synthèse stylistique : approche classique, en un sens viennoise, mâtinée des réflexions sur les effectifs, les équilibres, le phrasé et les tempi des baroqueux . . . on sent une réelle évolution dans la pensée du maestro milanais . . . la musique respire avec une conscience plus aigue de la place de l¿enfant de Salzbourg dans son époque, avec une agogique assez droite, sans le rubato discret mais bien présent qui était la marque de fabrique d¿Abbado, notamment dans les divines suspensions de ses Mahler. Toujours soucieux de partage et de dialogue, le chef laisse ici avec son Orchestra Mozart bien autant de musique concertante que de symphonique pur . . . D¿exhaustif, nous n¿aurons que les cinq Concertos pour violon et les quatre Concertos pour cor, toujours de très belle facture. Pour le reste, nous savourerons à leur juste valeur le degré de raffinement des soli instrumentaux . . .
