Just about the most engrossing 75 minutes I can imagine . . . I can't describe this
performance in words. You will simply have to take my word for it and get yourself a copy of this incredible recording before it disappears. Trust me, this is unique . . .

With lovely recording quality and packaging, this album [Confesión] should appeal far beyond classical guitar fans to music lovers of all stripes.

In the three-movement composition La Catedral that opens his all-Barrios recital, the dulcet melody line and weaving accompaniment seem to emerge from different instruments, and in the Allegro Solemne's toccata-like patterns are ravishingly tinted. Notice, too, how Ramirez gorgeously differentiates his artticulation throughout the eloquent Confesión and clarifies the G minor Prelude's Bachian discourse through subtle rhythmic distensions.

After his death in 1944 Barrios´name fell into oblivion, however, since the 1970s his music has been rediscovered. The pinnacle of this movement may be found on the recording of Alexander-Sergei Ramirez.
