Orph&eacute;e depicts a journey from darkness into light, inspired by the various versions of the ancient myth of Orpheus, from Ovid to Cocteau. This multi-layered narrative about death, rebirth, transformation and the transience of memory can also be interpreted as a metaphor for artistic creativity. Orph&eacute;e offers a diverse soundscape: acoustic instruments are featured both as soloists and in ensembles, combined with electronics and the mysterious sounds of shortwave &lsquo;number transmitters&rsquo;. It draws on many facets of his previous works and incorporates music for solo cello, organ, string quartet, string orchestra and a cappella vocals.
Ten years after its debut, the celebrated Album Orph&eacute;e is being released for the first time on Crystal Clear Vinyl.
