Cellist Kian Soltani releases his much-anticipated album of works by Schumann, on which he is joined by the CAMERATA Salzburg under the musical direction of concertmaster Gregory Ahss. Soltani performs the composer&rsquo;s landmark Cello Concerto, as well as orchestrated songs.&nbsp;&nbsp;
In addition, the album features Soltani&rsquo;s own transcriptions for cello and piano of music by both Robert and Clara Schumann, in which he is accompanied by French pianist Julien Quentin.&nbsp;
&ldquo;It was important for me to extend this mood and to include a selection of my all-time favourite songs by Schumann, some of them with string accompaniment, others with piano,&rdquo; says Soltani. &ldquo;The result is as profound as it is personal and deeply moving.&rdquo; Performing and recording the Concerto and the songs without a conductor brings this interpretation the warm transparency of chamber music, yielding a uniquely organic exchange between soloist and ensemble. &ldquo;His music is poetry &ndash; few other composers are as capable of triggering such powerful associations in me as Robert Schumann,&rdquo; affirms Soltani.&nbsp;&nbsp;
