On their new album, released on our partner label CAvi Music, conductor Adam Fischer and the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker couple Schubert’s Symphony No. 1 with Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9. Fischer got the idea to pair these early Classical and late Romantic symphonies from an extensive magazine feature Dvořák wrote on Schubert as a forward-looking composer in 1894. The juxtaposed recordings highlight the two works’ many parallels.
