BATCH 4

The final fourth selection of albums from the extensive Koch Schwann catalogue is now available digitally for the first time. Our featured album from this batch presents elegant overtures of the Polish romantic composer Stanisław Moniuszko. As the father of Polish national opera, he drew on folkloristic elements like his compatriot Chopin, whose influence he did not deny. We encounter waltzes, mazurkas, and polonaises in his exuberant orchestral pieces, that were recorded by the Crakow Philharmonic Orchestra under Roland Bader.

BATCH 3

This album features Siegfried Wagner’s preludes and overtures. Fairy-tale motifs determined the subjects of the operas of Richard Wagner’s only son, while his symphonic poem “Glück” (Happiness) ambitiously follows in the footsteps of the programme music of his grandfather Franz Liszt. It is performed by the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt under Dimitrij Kitajenko.

This album is one of a third batch of 12 albums from the Koch Schwann catalogue to be released digitally for the first time. See the full set of releases.

BATCH 2

The Piano Concerto No. 1 by Eduard Künneke was written 50 years ago and oscillates between classicism and swing. Tiny Wirtz (1923–2023), a German pianist who would have celebrated her 100th birthday last year in December, performs this piece together with the Rundfunkorchester des Südwestfunks under Vladimir Kamirski. It is part of her 1977 album for the German label Koch Schwann, that also features Mendelssohn’s Serenade and Allegro giocoso, as well as Capriccio brillant.

This album is one of a second batch of 12 albums from the Koch Schwann catalogue to be released digitally for the first time. See the full set of releases.

In 2001, pianist Anna Gourari released a Beethoven album on Koch Schwann together with the Staatskapelle Dresden under Sir Colin Davis whose recordings were originally created for the film “Invincible” by director Werner Herzog.
