We announce the release of Andreas Ottensamer’s new album Blue Hour: Mendelssohn Edition. Ottensamer comments: “Mendelssohn’s Songs without words have been part of my musical life for a very long time. As a kid I really loved listening to them! Arranging some of them for my Blue Hour album, opened up a wonderful world to me, and with the beginning of lockdown a few months ago, I again took the time to re-visit and to enlarge the collection of these arrangements. Now I’m taking the next step by arranging pieces for clarinet and strings discovering a universe of possibilities. Our very personal collection of Mendelssohn’s Songs without words hopefully brings to life different sides of this wonderful music.”
To coincide with this announcement, we present a DG Stage concert on 9 April 2021, 8PM (CET). Andreas Ottensamer and the Schumann Quartett will be performing a selection of works of Mendelssohn and Schumann.
The album is set for release 18 June 2021. Listen to the first pre-release track Mendelssohn: Lieder ohne Worte, Op. 62: No. 6 Allegretto grazioso “Spring Song” now!
