Earlier this year, one of the greatest pianists of our time, Maurizio Pollini, celebrated his 80th birthday. Having made landmark recordings of Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas Nos. 28 and 29 in the 1970s, he has now revisited these works, eliciting their last secrets in his new interpretations. The recording marks the completion of his recent survey of the five late piano sonatas, following on from the successful 2020 release of Beethoven – The Last Three Sonatas Opp. 109–111.
