Our Musical Moments series continues this week with Frank Bridge’s miniature Come to Me in My Dreams (H. 71), a setting of Matthew Arnold’s poem “Longing.” The moving English art song is sung by Baritone Theodore Platt who is accompanied by pianist Keval Shah. Platt’s clear storytelling draws the listener into the song’s intimate, nocturnal world, bringing out Bridge’s lyrical vocal line and gently shifting harmonies. At the piano, Shah supports with finely judged colour and pacing.
