Product Information

Conductor Christoph Eschenbach and the Verbier Festival Orchestra announce their upcoming album featuring Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, released on our shared label Verbier Festival Gold. The fourth symphony conjures a child’s vision of heaven, a world where innocence replaces gravity.

A great contemplator of nature, Mahler believed that every work should contain a fragment of the infinite, and here that appears in a shorter form with reduced orchestral forces, marked by a child-like sense of wonder. Under the baton of Eschenbach, the orchestra traces a luminous path from the first to the final movement, its points of origin and ultimate fulfillment of the symphony.

Listen to a pre-release track, the final movement Das himmlische Leben of the symphony, in which Ying Fang’s crystal-clear voice lifts us toward celestial realms. The full album is released digitally on 20 March.
