GOTTHARD ODERMATT

Albrecht Mayer plays Cascatelle (“Little waterfall”), the final movement of Gotthard Odermatt’s oboe sonata Les Couleurs de l’eau (“The Colours of Water”). The oboe melody offers a delightful contrast between lyricism and more rapid writing, painting a portrait of the water in its different moods. Pianist Kimiko Imani brings varied colours to the Impressionistic harmonies of the accompaniment.
