Product Information
The Estonian vocal ensemble Vox Clamantis and its conductor Jaan-Eik Tulve have established themselves as leading interpreters of Arvo Pärt’s music over the course of their 25 years of close collaboration with the composer — a relationship built on the almost half-decade-long artistic partnership between Pärt and producer Manfred Eicher.
BBC Music Magazine commented on the ensemble’s ECM New Series recording ‘The Deer’s Cry’: “The level of artistry required to achieve such a vibrant and breathing interpretation as Vox Clamantis’s is rarely encountered. This hauntingly authentic and superbly sung recording is arguably one of the most convincing introductions to Arvo Pärt…”
And I heard a voice, recorded in Haapsalu Cathedral, Estonia, and released on the occasion of Arvo Pärt’s 90th birthday 8 on 11 September), shows how the close connection between choir and composer, supported by a shared feeling for Gregorian chant as well as for contemporary music, continues to deepen.
