Recorded on our joint label Verbier Festival Gold, we release an album of performances by Renaud Capuçon from the festival since his first appearance in 1996.
The Verbier Festival has practically been a second home for the beloved French violinist. Beyond offering a venue for the performance of well-known masterpieces, the alpine stages have also offered him a “laboratory” of sorts for experimentation with repertoire that most would consider to be off the beaten path. The album not only features a spectacular opening track – a scintillating Beethoven G Major Sonata with Martha Argerich – but further continues with works by Karl Hartmann, Max Bruch, as well as Eugène Ysaÿe, where he is joined by fellow superstar Joshua Bell.
