Eduard Mörike’s poem “Schlafendes Jesuskind” (“The Sleeping Christ-Child”) was inspired by a Renaissance painting of the baby Jesus asleep on a wooden cross. Baritone Andrè Schuen and pianist Daniel Heide capture the solemn, meditative character of Wolf’s setting to perfection.
