Shanghai Symphony Orchestra
Long Yu
Together with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and members of the New York Philharmonic Chorus, conductor Long Yu performs the semi-staged musical drama Émigré by Aaron Zigman. The story is about two Jewish brothers, who search for refuge in Shanghai after Kristallnacht 1938 in Germany and are confronted with love and loss. Exploring the the story of reportedly 30,000 Jewish refugees in the late 1930s who fled to Shanghai from Europe, Long Yu says about this composition: “I am proud to be sharing this important work, brought to life by Aaron and Mark, and to be conducting the world premiere performance.”
