Bayreuth Festival – Program with Timeless Class
The Bayreuth Festival House on the “Green Hill” in Bayreuth opened in 1876 as a unique venue for Richard Wagner’s operas. Founded by Wagner himself in 1876, the festival will soon celebrate its 150th anniversary and is considered one of the greatest classical festivals – not just for Wagnerians.
Every summer, Wagner’s last ten operas are staged in the festival house specially designed by the composer. Tickets are rare and highly sought after – but thanks to STAGE+, Wagner fans can now experience the performances at home via livestream. The new production of “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” will have its Bayreuth premiere broadcast live and exclusively from the Festival House on July 25, 2025 also on STAGE+. This 4K and Dolby Atmos quality broadcast will be available even outside the DACH region.
Through its close media partnership with Deutsche Grammophon and the Bayreuth Festival, STAGE+ has the most extensive archive of Bayreuth recordings. Over 30 full-length opera productions from Bayreuth are available in the VOD library – including productions such as Dmitri Tcherniakov’s “Der fliegende Holländer (2021)” as well as, exclusively on STAGE+, the most recent Bayreuth “Ring” cycles by Frank Castorf and Valentin Schwarz. The much-acclaimed new production “Tristan und Isolde” from last year’s festival (staged by Thorleifur Ö. Arnarsson and conducted by Semyon Bychkov) is now also part of the streaming offer.
Furthermore, STAGE+ offers numerous documentaries, artist interviews, and a remarkable selection of audio albums related to Bayreuth. Discover the entire Bayreuth archive conveniently online here – and experience Wagnerian festival magic anytime, anywhere you want.
Salzburg Festival – Experience highlights from home
Salzburg is inextricably linked with the history of classical music – not least as the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose works continue to play a central role in the Festival program. Since its founding in 1920, the Salzburg Festival has developed into one of Europe’s most versatile cultural events: Over several weeks, it combines opera, concert, and drama into a dense artistic tapestry. Especially under the aegis of Herbert von Karajan, the Festival became an international showpiece – a legacy that remains tangible today in the breadth of its programming and its excellent cast.
This year, STAGE+ will again stream selected highlights from Salzburg live. On August 10, 2025, the concert of the Vienna Philharmonic with Andris Nelsons, who conducts works by Gustav Mahler and Dmitri Shostakovich, will be streamed live – an event of particular artistic significance.
Furthermore, STAGE+ houses an extensive Salzburg archive with audio and video recordings from past years. Here you will find solo recitals, orchestral concerts, opera productions and more – from classics to rarities. An example is the acclaimed piano recital by Daniil Trifonov at the 2023 Festival, in which the star pianist shone with works by Tchaikovsky, Schumann, Mozart, and Scriabin.

Verbier Festival – Concerts in a Modern Style
Much younger, yet breathtaking – perched high above the Rhône Valley, the Verbier Festival has radiated a brilliance for three decades that extends far beyond the Swiss Alps. It is a place of encounter where musical experience and artistic curiosity meet: renowned soloists, conductors, and ensembles work side by side with young talents – a cross-generational dialogue that characterizes the festival like no other. Verbier stands for excellence, promotion, and an incomparably personal festival atmosphere – embedded in one of Europe’s most spectacular landscapes.
This year, on July 23, 2025, STAGE+ awaits you with a livestream from star pianist Daniil Trifonov featuring interpretations of wonderful Chopin waltzes. Equally highly recommended is the eagerly awaited performance of the piano trio with Renaud Capuçon, Gautier Capuçon, and Martha Argerich. This year, they aim to impress with Haydn and Bartholdy. You can stream this performance on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
The Verbier archive on STAGE+ also holds many unique audiovisual treasures. For example, you can exclusively re-experience the new Recital by Nobuyuki Tsujii from 2024 featuring Bach, Liszt, Ravel, and Kapustin – an impressive cross-section of piano literature that showcases the extraordinary artistry of this pianist. Legendary moments from previous years are also immortalized: such as the captivating concert “Mischa Maisky in Verbier‚” in which the famous cellist performs with festival friends (also available as an album release on STAGE+).
New Festival Highlights: Cap Rocat & Grafenegg Festival
This year, STAGE+ is delighted to introduce two new festivals promising extraordinary experiences: Festival Cap Rocat and the Grafenegg Festival. Festival Cap Rocat takes place against a spectacular backdrop in Mallorca and has quickly become the largest classical open-air festival in the Balearic Islands. Opera stars like Elīna Garanča, Pretty Yende, and Jonas Kaufmann have already performed there – for example, Garanča’s performance in Cavalleria rusticana at the Cap Rocat Festival is available on STAGE+.
You can now enjoy this Mediterranean opera gala atmosphere anywhere. The renowned Grafenegg Festival in Lower Austria, in turn, brings together first-class artists from opera, concert, theater, and dance every summer.
STAGE+ offers you the incredible opening concert 2025 as a live stream, bringing the diversity of this sought after festival directly into your living room. From orchestra concerts in the Wolkenturm to chamber music and recitals – the highlights from Grafenegg are now easy for you to experience!
