J.S. BACH Air on the G String / Víkingur Ólafsson | Deutsche Grammophon

With this upcoming album Continuum II, pianist Víkingur Ólafsson continues his extraordinary journey through the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, building on the remarkable success of 2024’s Continuum. 

Widely celebrated for making classical music – and Bach in particular – accessible and compelling to younger, culturally curious audiences, the Grammy-winning Icelandic pianist has become today’s leading interpreter of Bach for a new generation. With more than 1.2 billion lifetime streams, he also remains the most-streamed living pianist for performances of Bach’s music. 

Featuring a programme of Bach repertoire, Continuum II includes this brand-new arrangement by Víkingur Ólafsson of the celebrated Air on the G String, presented in two versions: one for grand piano and one for upright piano. Bach’s music continues to resonate strongly with audiences, accounting for around half of all streams of Ólafsson’s recordings. 

The full album is released digitally on 13 November, with the pre-order starting in September.
