For almost three decades, the brothers&nbsp;Alfons&nbsp;and&nbsp;Aloys&nbsp;Kontarsky&nbsp;were the world&rsquo;s leading piano duo. They set the standard for all&nbsp;subsequent&nbsp;pairs of siblings to play the piano. Even today, their musical and analytical acuity and intellectual insight remain unrivalled.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The&nbsp;highly talented&nbsp;musicians studied with the legendary pianist&nbsp;Eduard&nbsp;Erdmann, who described the brothers as &lsquo;ingenious&rsquo;.&nbsp;What is particularly fascinating about their playing is the lucid, transparent sound.&nbsp;They inspired&nbsp;numerous&nbsp;contemporary composers to write new, intricately difficult pieces, while at the same time interpreting the works of the classical and romantic repertoire clearly, consistently and without superfluous sentimentality.&nbsp;&nbsp;
This album of works by Bizet, Faur&eacute; and Milhaud is the first of four albums new to the digital supply chain, which will come out at irregular intervals over the next few months. The second album of works by Schubert will be released digitally on 27 March and is available for pre-order.&nbsp;

As an exclusive DG artist for more than 30 years, Mischa Maisky has made over 40 recordings with orchestras such as the Wiener and Berliner Philharmonikers, the Israel Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. His many Chamber Music recordings witness his long-standing partnership with Martha Argerich but also feature other important soloists such as Lang Lang, Sergio Tiempo and Gidon Kremer. His discography is a compendium of the core cello repertoire, also comprising lesser-known works, and arrangements for cello. Celebrating his remarkable output, we present a limited edition 44-CD set of his complete recordings on DG plus recordings made for Philips, with some recordings released for the first time internationally.&nbsp;
