This new album features a previously unreleased concert recording of a performance by Cypriot pianist Nicolas Economou at the renowned Munich Klaviersommer festival. Economo’s performance of a thrilling all-Chopin programme was recorded at the height of his artistic powers in 1984, nine years before his tragically early death. In Chopin’s B-flat minor Scherzo and all four Ballades, he reveals the fire, virtuosity and poetic intensity that made him one of the most exciting pianistic talents of his generation. This release marks the launch of a new archival series.
