Product Information
We are delighted to announce that the multi-award-winning composer, crossover pianist and producer Yu-Peng Chen has signed to DG. Classically trained, he becomes the first Chinese composer to sign an exclusive agreement with the Yellow Label.
Chen is known for the richly melodic and stylistically multifaceted music he has written for a number of film and game soundtracks, and earned global fame as the musical mastermind behind the open-world role-playing game Genshin Impact.
Yu-Peng will launch his DG career on 7 November 2025 with the release of an extended edition of his album Fantasyland, recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Robert Ziegler and previously issued digitally in July 2024. Fantasyland is his first album for symphony orchestra, with virtuosic roles for piano (played by Chen) and for accordion solo and duo (Zhao Liu and Ilona Soumalainen). Its colourful soundworld is enriched by instruments from non-western traditions, including Indian bansuri and sitar, Japanese koto and shakuhachi, and a variety of Chinese instruments.
As Chen himself notes, his 2024 album Fantasyland represents a turning point in his career. It was written after his decision to leave HOYO-MiX, “to summarise and review my creative journey … as well as to bid farewell to the past and welcome the upcoming new chapter of my life”.
Listen to a first pre-release track of the virtuosic piano version of his Summer Fantasy. The full deluxe edition will be released for the first time on CD and Vinyl and re-released digitally on all streaming services on 7 November. Including four bonus tracks and a booklet featuring personal notes by the composer, the album is now available for pre-order.
