KLUGHARDT String Quintet, Op. 62, String Quartet, Op. 61 / Pleyel Quartett Köln, Helga Löhrer | Deutsche Grammophon

On their new album, recorded on our partner label CAvi Music, the Pleyel Quartett Köln are joined by cellist Helga Löhrer to perform two string works by August Klughardt. 

Born in 1847 in Köthen, Klughardt’s love of music was instilled early on through his father, a viola player. When starting regular piano lessons at the age of ten, being taught both in music theory and practice by the best musicians the city had to offer, the foundations were laid for a broad spectrum of musical activity. Performing on the piano, composing and conducting played equal parts in his musical personality throughout his life.
