German tenor Horst Laubenthal was a constant guest at the big opera houses of the world like the Staatsoper in Vienna, the Deutsche Oper in Berlin or the Grand Opéra in Paris. His collaborators were conductors like Herbert von Karajan, Sir Georg Solti and Leonard Bernstein. His new album featuring Lieder by Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms and Wolf is released digitally as part of DG’s debut series, which presents first or very early recordings by artists who went on to build considerable careers.
