Mandolin virtuoso Avi Avital releases his album Song of the Birds. The project expands the repertoire of three already released diversely themed EPs that explore a colourful sequence of music from Southern Italy, the Iberian Peninsula and the Black Sea region. 

The album was recorded with Avital’s new ensemble Between Worlds that challenges the boundaries between classical and folk music. It paints a rich musical portrait of the three regions in bright colours and detailed nuances. Classical composers from each region are played side by side with traditional music that often inspired their work, performed together with a rotating cast of renowned folk vocalists and instrumentalists as guest artists.
