TAUSENDFÜSSLERS TANZFEST Peter Schindler, Luzerner Sängerknaben | Deutsche Grammophon

On his new album, released on our partner label Carus, composer Peter Schindler is joined by the Luzerner Sängerknaben and the Grillen-Band to perform 13 stylistically diverse solo and choral children’s songs.  

The album tells the story of the millipede Sassa, who is invited to a grand dance festival — but just before the celebration, three of his shoes mysteriously disappear! This touching and humorous story about Sassa, some cheeky flies, and funny grasshoppers invites children to sing, dance, jump, crawl, and much more. Yet it’s not only about a theft, but most of all about friendship, helpfulness, and encouragement. 

The pieces can — apart from a few dramaturgically necessary solo passages — be performed by the choir. In addition, there is flexible music for entrances and changes on the stage. The songs may be sung in one or two parts and accompanied either by piano only (piano version) or by an instrumental ensemble (orchestral version).
