Leo Brouwer (born in 1939) is a Cuban composer, conductor and classical guitarist. He composed for guitar, piano and percussion, and has written orchestral works, ballet, and music for over one hundred movies, earning him a near-legendary status as a contemporary composer. On his upcoming album he plays works for solo guitar, ranging from Renaissance to contemporary pieces. The album is released on 30 January as part of DG’s debut series, which presents first or very early recordings by artists who went on to build considerable careers.
